"गोध्रा हत्याकांडातील मोदी हा कलंकित मोदी होता. तो माझ्या लायकीचा पंतप्रधान नाही असं म्हणाले. तर उत्तरार्धातील बदललेला आणि दहशतवाद संपवण्यासाठी तेच मोदी गांधी आणि बुद्धाचं नाव घेतात. मोदींचं पाकिस्तानात जाऊन नवाज शरीफांना शुभेच्छा देणं कौतुकास्पद आणि धाडसाचं काम होतं. तिथं काहीही होऊ शकलं असतं, असं सबनीस म्हणाले होते. त्यांच्या या वक्तव्यावर सर्व स्तरांतून प्रतिक्रीया उमटल्या. सबनीसांनी पंतप्रधानांचा एकेरी उल्लेख टाळायला हवा होता अशी प्रतिक्रिया भाजपचे आमदार राम कदम यांनी व्यक्त केली. तर सबनीसांनी पंतप्रधानांची माफी मागावी अशी मागणी सुद्धा करण्यात आली होती. दरम्यान, संमेलनाध्यक्ष श्रीपाल सबनिस यांना फोनवरून हिंदुत्नवाद्यांनी जीवे मारण्याची धमकी दिली आहे. हिरामण गवळी आणि अनुप अग्रवाल अशी या दोघांची नावे आहेत. "जर माझ्या जीवाचं काही बरं वाईट झाल्यास त्यांची सर्वस्वी जवाबदारी भाजप सरकारची राहिुल." अशी प्रतिक्रिया श्रीपाल सबनिस यांनी नोंदवली आहे.
